Anthropic Seals $35 Billion Cloud Deal With Nvidia-Backed Lambda
Anthropic PBC has locked in a $35 billion cloud computing agreement with Lambda, a provider backed by Nvidia Corp., to rapidly scale its artificial intelligence infrastructure. The multi-year deal gives the AI startup access to Lambda's GPU-powered cloud capacity as competition intensifies among frontier model developers.
The agreement represents one of the largest cloud commitments in the AI sector and underscores the capital intensity required to train and deploy large language models. Lambda, which counts Nvidia among its investors, specializes in GPU cloud infrastructure optimized for machine learning workloads. The partnership allows Anthropic to bypass traditional hyperscaler dependencies and secure dedicated compute resources.
The deal follows Anthropic's $2 billion investment from Google earlier this year and signals continued infrastructure buildout among OpenAI competitors. Anthropic operates the Claude family of models and competes directly with Microsoft-backed OpenAI and Google's Gemini in the enterprise AI market.
