Anthropic: The 5 Most Important Things Investors Need to Know from Its IPO Filing
Anthropic's IPO filing lands with a $1.5-2 trillion expected valuation, and the numbers show hypergrowth colliding with an enormous compute bill.
H1 2026 revenue surged 1,304% to $16.29 billion. No single customer exceeds 10% of revenue, which limits concentration risk. The headline net loss of $80.7 billion looks alarming, but $72 billion came from non-cash accounting charges tied to convertible notes. Strip those out and the underlying loss is far smaller.
The caution flag: Q3 revenue guidance of $16.8 billion signals a material sequential slowdown from the pace that produced the H1 total. Interpretation: the market will price whether that guide is conservative or an early sign of deceleration.
Operating leverage is emerging. In Q2, revenue grew 1,368% while compute expenses grew only 300%.
The commitments are where public investors will focus, and they flow to several listed names:
- ▸Alphabet: $114.5 billion in compute commitments, plus $125-150 billion for TPUs (GOOGL, GOOG)
- ▸Amazon: $110 billion (AMZN)
- ▸Microsoft: $44.9 billion (MSFT)
- ▸SpaceX: $120.5 billion (SPCX)
Interpretation: these multi-year obligations amount to contracted demand for the counterparties, but they also tie Anthropic's margins to its ability to keep growing faster than its compute costs.
