Apple CEO Tim Cook Just Announced Great News for Broadcom Stock Investors
Apple has locked in a $30 billion chip supply commitment with Broadcom running through 2031, covering production of approximately 15 billion chips. The deal translates to roughly $6 billion in annual revenue for Broadcom, CEO Tim Cook announced.
The contract's strategic significance extends beyond the dollar figure. Apple currently represents approximately 20% of Broadcom's total revenue, making it a major customer concentration risk. The multi-year commitment provides visibility and reduces uncertainty around that relationship through the end of the decade.
Broadcom's AI chip business is experiencing triple-digit expansion. The segment posted 143% year-over-year revenue growth in its most recent quarter, with management projecting more than 200% growth for the upcoming quarter. The Apple deal stabilizes the traditional semiconductor business while AI revenue accelerates.
At $6 billion annually, the Apple commitment represents a meaningful but not transformational revenue stream for Broadcom. The company reported total revenue of $51.6 billion in fiscal 2024, putting the Apple deal at roughly 12% of current revenue on an annualized basis.
