Arcadis Shares Fall After Canada’s WSP Global Pulls Takeover Offer
WSP Global has withdrawn its takeover offer for Arcadis, sending the Dutch design and engineering consultancy's shares down 6% in early afternoon European trading. The collapse marks the end of a potential transaction that would have created one of the largest players in the infrastructure consulting sector.
The Wall Street Journal reported the deal termination without disclosing the reasons behind WSP's decision to pull out. Canada-based WSP Global, itself a major engineering and professional services firm, had been pursuing the acquisition before walking away.
Arcadis operates across design, engineering, and consultancy services with a focus on infrastructure and environmental projects. The 6% intraday decline reflects investor disappointment over the failed premium-valuation exit opportunity.
