Argan's Q2 Beat Shows Power Strength as Industrial Margins Stay Soft
AGX reported fiscal Q2 2027 earnings that beat consensus, with net income climbing 50.4% and revenue jumping 61.5% year-over-year. The Power segment delivered the driver: revenue rose 52.9% and gross margin expanded to 22.4%, underscoring strength in the company's core business line.
The Industrial segment told a different story. Revenue doubled, but gross margin compressed sharply to 7.3% as project completion estimates deteriorated. Management warned that Industrial margins will stay below historical levels for at least one to two more quarters, flagging continued pressure in that unit.
The mixed results highlight AGX's reliance on Power to offset weakness in Industrial. The margin divergence—Power expanding while Industrial contracts—suggests execution risk remains elevated in lower-margin work even as top-line growth accelerates across both segments.
