Can Reddit Shrink to Grow?

Reddit (RDDT) shares plunged more than 21% after the company guided Q4 revenue growth to 40% year over year, a sharp deceleration from Q3's 53%. The selloff was compounded by CEO Steve Huffman's announcement that Reddit will move to a logged-in-only experience, a shift that trades near-term reach for a more controlled user base.

The Motley Fool analyst behind the piece argues the drop creates a setup worth examining. RDDT is on track for $1 billion in annualized free cash flow, which equates to a 3.7% FCF yield at the post-drop valuation. The analyst also points to a history of doubling cash from operations annually, suggesting the cash engine has outpaced the revenue slowdown the market is punishing.

Interpretation: a 13-point swing in growth guidance explains the sharp repricing, but a 40% growth rate remains a high bar for most platforms. The logged-in-only pivot is the real wildcard. It may pressure traffic in the short run, yet the market appears to be pricing the downside while giving little credit to the FCF profile cited by the analyst.
