Intel Was Worth About 28 Times as Much as AMD 10 Years Ago. Now AMD Is Worth About 60% More.

AMD (AMD) now carries a market value roughly 60% above Intel (INTC) as of 2026, a stunning reversal from 2016, when INTC was worth about 28 times as much as AMD.

The server market shows where the shift happened. AMD's share of server processors climbed to 34.5%, up from 3.2% in 2018. The source credits AMD's use of Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) and its advanced manufacturing as a key enabler. INTC, meanwhile, struggled with its own foundry operations during the same stretch.

INTC's recovery thesis now rests on foundry. The company needs to win back external customers, yet only 5% of its foundry revenue comes from outside clients. That figure signals the turnaround is incomplete, even after recent operational improvements cited in the article.

Interpretation: the 5% external-revenue figure is the clearest scorecard for whether INTC's foundry strategy is gaining traction. TSM sits on the other side of that equation, as the manufacturing partner behind AMD's gains. The valuation gap reflects a decade of divergent execution, and it is unlikely to close on sentiment alone.
