JAZZ Rises on Updated OS Results From Gastric Cancer Study
Jazz Pharmaceuticals reported statistically significant overall survival improvements in the second interim analysis of its HERIZON-GEA-01 trial. The study showed Ziihera plus chemotherapy outperformed standard trastuzumab plus chemotherapy in HER2-positive gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma patients. A three-drug regimen combining Ziihera, Tevimbra, and chemotherapy also delivered improved OS hazard ratios with extended follow-up.
The data supports FDA's recent label expansion authorizing Ziihera for first-line treatment in this indication, broadening the drug's addressable market. JAZZ shares rose following the announcement.
The trial results come at a critical inflection point for Jazz's oncology portfolio. Ziihera's expansion into first-line gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma treatment opens a substantially larger revenue opportunity beyond its existing indications. The favorable hazard ratio trend in the three-drug arm suggests potential for additional combination therapy approvals.
