Micron's Chinese Rival CXMT Just Grew Its Sales More Than Sevenfold. I'd Buy Micron Stock Now.
CXMT, the Chinese DRAM maker, reported a 613% year-over-year revenue jump in Q3 2026, and the read-through lands on MU. The surge came from a global memory shortage that lifted both chip volumes and prices.
The headline number looks threatening for a Micron competitor, but the scale tells a different story. MU still posts quarterly revenue roughly three times CXMT's, even after CXMT's sevenfold growth. The Motley Fool analyst argues the CXMT result reflects industry-wide pricing strength, not a fundamental threat to MU, and recommends buying MU at current valuations.
Interpretation: if a smaller rival can grow sales more than sevenfold in a shortage, the pricing environment is doing much of the work. That supports the view that MU participates in the same tailwind rather than losing share to it. It also shows how cyclical the group is, a point the analyst acknowledges by suggesting investors build positions gradually rather than all at once.
