Pre-Market Update — Tuesday, October 27, 2026
Pre-Market Pulse. Futures have flipped from flat to firmly bid, with $QQQ leading and small caps joining — the cautious-flat setup from 6:30 is gone.
What Changed Since 6:30. The non-synchronized tape resolved higher: $ES is now +0.34% (vs. -0.05% earlier), $NQ +0.51% (vs. -0.06%), and $RTY +0.41% has flipped from laggard to participant. $MSFT remains the sole mega-cap drag (-0.61%), but $NVDA +1.01%, $AMD +1.92%, and $GOOGL +0.52% have overwhelmed it, invalidating the "MSFT drags NQ" risk. Precious metals stabilized ($GC -0.09% vs. -0.78% prior), and crypto quietly reclaimed $80K on $BTC — the risk-off tells from the discover thesis have faded.
The 8:30 Print. Durable Goods Orders was scheduled for 8:30 ET but a verified official actual is not yet available — treat as pending. No tradeable print to react to; futures have continued firming into the vacuum.
Overnight Action. Asia closed mixed with Japan again doing the heavy lifting — Nikkei +1.73% to 63,268, Hang Seng -0.23%. Europe turned decisively greener as the morning progressed: DAX +1.30% to 25,509, Euro Stoxx 50 +0.42%, FTSE -0.07%. US futures that failed to confirm European strength at 6:30 are now in gear — $ES 7,741 (+0.34%), $NQ 29,588 (+0.51%), $YM 52,685 (+0.26%), $RTY 2,808.9 (+0.41%). Crude softened ($CL 101.25, -0.5%), silver still heavy at $53.67 (-1.23%).
Movers Before the Bell. $AMD +1.92% to $541.46 is the standout mega-cap, pulling semis higher alongside $NVDA +1.01%. $TSLA +1.09% extends its 6:30 lean, with weekend chatter around a theoretical SpaceX-Tesla structure as background noise, not catalyst. $COIN +1.1% to $161.35 tracks $BTC's reclaim of $80K. $MSFT -0.61% remains the lone mega-cap laggard — a tell to watch at the cash open given it compounded into the 6:30 bear case. $AAPL -0.31% and $META -0.27% drift modestly red. On thin pre-open volume, treat the magnitude of the AMD and TSLA prints as directional, not confirmed.
Still Ahead Today. New Home Sales at 10:00 ET is the remaining scheduled high-impact print — consensus and prior are unverified, so frame reaction, not beat/miss. The delayed Durable Goods actual could also cross any time and move rate-sensitive names. Watch for Amazon ($AMZN +0.64% pre-open) positioning ahead of Oct. 29 earnings.
Game Plan. $SPY $768.49 pre-market, prior close $765.37. Pivot: 765.37 (now support, not resistance). Upside objective: 770 round-number magnet. Downside trigger: loss of 765 reopens 762. Idea: longs work while $SPY holds 765.37 on pullbacks; a failed reclaim after an opening dip is the cleaner short setup into 10:00 Home Sales.
