Robinhood's Long-Term Story Is Bigger Than Crypto Trading
Robinhood reported Q1 2026 total revenue of $1.07 billion, up 15% year-over-year, even as cryptocurrency trading revenue plunged 47% and its share of total revenue fell from 20% to 13%. The diversification story is real: growth came from options trading, equities trading, net interest revenue, and subscription services.
The company is pushing beyond its core brokerage model with expansion into prediction markets, the launch of Robinhood Chain, and new AI tools. The crypto pullback—once a fifth of revenue—now represents just 13% of the business, signaling reduced exposure to Bitcoin and altcoin volatility that hammered fintech platforms in prior cycles.
Revenue growth held despite the crypto headwind, suggesting the platform's other revenue engines are scaling fast enough to offset weakness in digital assets. Options and equities trading volume, along with subscription uptake, are carrying the load.
