Should You Buy the Honeywell Aerospace Spinoff?
Honeywell International (HON) will split into two standalone entities—Honeywell Aerospace and Honeywell Technologies—on June 29, 2026. The spinoff follows the well-worn playbook of breaking up diversified conglomerates to unlock shareholder value through higher pure-play valuations.
Honeywell Aerospace is positioned to capture aerospace sector momentum, a sector currently trading at premium multiples. Honeywell Technologies, which will house the remaining industrial automation and building solutions businesses, may see post-spinoff selling pressure typical of industrial spinoffs, potentially creating a value entry point.
The June 29, 2026 separation date gives existing HON shareholders nearly two years to evaluate positioning. Conglomerate breakups historically generate alpha through multiple expansion in the higher-growth entity and mean reversion opportunities in the unloved stub, though execution risk remains until the split is finalized.
