Starlink's Consumer Business Is Booming. This Business Is Growing Even Faster.
SpaceX's (SPCX) Starlink enterprise and government segment is growing nearly twice as fast as its consumer business, a mix shift that is lifting profitability. Enterprise and government revenue jumped 91% year-over-year, versus 57% growth in consumer.
That divergence is changing the revenue composition. Enterprise and government now accounts for 41% of connectivity revenue, up from 36% a year earlier. Management suggests the segment could eventually surpass consumer revenue.
Margins reflect the shift. The connectivity segment's operating margin expanded from 38% to 45%. Interpretation: higher-margin enterprise customers plausibly drove part of that seven-point gain, though the data supplied does not isolate the cause.
Aviation offers a concrete runway. Starlink has 12,000 aircraft under contract but only 3,800 equipped. That leaves roughly 8,200 aircraft contracted but not yet installed, which points to a built-in pipeline of future revenue as installations proceed (interpretation of the supplied figures).
The takeaway for SPCX holders: growth quality is improving alongside growth rate. Consumer is still expanding at a healthy 57%, but the faster-growing segment carries the stronger margin profile.
