Stock Market Today, Sept. 24: BlackBerry Lifts Fiscal 2027 Guidance on Record QNX Revenue

BB surged 4.18% after the company beat second-quarter earnings expectations and raised its fiscal 2027 full-year guidance. Revenue climbed 26% year-over-year, while adjusted EBITDA jumped 81%.

The earnings beat was powered by BB's QNX embedded software unit, which posted 27% sales growth and delivered what the company called record revenue for the quarter. QNX, historically concentrated in automotive operating systems, is now expanding into autonomous vehicles, robotics, and AI applications—a diversification push aimed at broadening the unit's addressable market.

Despite the strong quarter and raised outlook, the stock trades at 46x forward earnings, a premium multiple that limits margin of safety if execution stumbles. The valuation reflects high expectations baked into shares, leaving little room for disappointment on the growth trajectory management has promised.

BB has now posted two consecutive quarters of accelerating growth, but profitability remains heavily dependent on QNX's ability to convert design wins in newer verticals into sustained revenue streams.
