TeraWulf shares soar after Anthropic leases data center in Kentucky
TeraWulf (TRVG) jumped on news that Anthropic signed a 20-year lease for its Kentucky data center in Hawesville, located approximately one hour southwest of Louisville. The facility will have capacity of around 400 megawatts, marking a major AI infrastructure deal for the crypto miner turned data center operator.
The stock has climbed more than 80% year-to-date as TeraWulf executes its pivot from cryptocurrency mining to AI data center infrastructure. The Anthropic lease represents a long-term revenue commitment from one of the leading AI model developers, providing visibility into the company's transition strategy.
The Kentucky location positions TeraWulf to serve growing demand for AI compute capacity outside traditional data center hubs. Anthropic, backed by Google and competing directly with OpenAI, requires substantial infrastructure to train and deploy its Claude AI models.
