Trump Tariff Refunds Just Topped $100 Billion, and These Companies Are Receiving Some of the Largest Checks

The U.S. Supreme Court invalidated tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act in February 2026, triggering over $166 billion in refunds from the Trump administration. Apple is receiving $2.19 billion, Walmart expects $2.4 billion, and Amazon is slated for $600 million—windfalls that will flow directly to earnings in the quarters ahead.

The refunds stem from tariffs originally levied on imported goods, which the Court ruled exceeded executive authority under IEEPA. For Apple, the $2.19 billion represents relief on duties paid for devices and components manufactured abroad. Walmart's $2.4 billion refund reflects tariffs on imported consumer goods across its supply chain, while Amazon's $600 million covers charges on electronics and merchandise sold through its marketplace.

The relief may prove temporary. The administration has already imposed new tariffs under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, a different legal framework that survived judicial challenge. These replacement levies could pressure margins and reignite inflation as companies pass costs to consumers in coming quarters.
