Why Archer Aviation Skyrocketed 24.6% Last Month
ACHR shares jumped 24.6% in August after announcing the acquisition of three BA subsidiaries: Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu. BA will receive a 16.5% equity stake in ACHR through newly issued shares as part of the transaction.
Insitu, one of the acquired units, already generates $200 million in annual sales and is profitable, positioning ACHR to immediately add revenue and improve margins. The deal brings autonomous aviation capabilities and strategic synergies to ACHR's electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) development efforts.
The transaction dilutes existing ACHR shareholders through the issuance of new equity to BA, though management views the trade-off as favorable given the operational and technological assets being acquired. The deal consolidates ACHR's position in the emerging advanced air mobility sector while adding a proven, cash-generating business to its portfolio.
