Why EOS Energy Soared as Much as 11% Today
EOS Energy (EOSE) shares spiked as much as 11% after the company posted preliminary Q3 2026 results, then gave back the move and slipped 2.3% by afternoon trading.
The headline numbers were strong. Revenue is expected to land at $82-83 million, up 170% year over year. Backlog reached $765 million, an 18.8% increase from a year ago.
The weak spot is profitability. EOSE guided to gross margins of negative 53-55%, meaning the company is still losing more than half a dollar in gross profit for every dollar of revenue. Management pointed to a 17-percentage-point improvement from Q2, which suggests the margin trajectory is improving even as the absolute level stays deeply negative.
Interpretation: the intraday reversal looks like buyers reacting to the growth and backlog figures first, then repricing as the negative margin guidance sank in. A 170% revenue jump matters less to the market if each added dollar of sales still carries a large gross loss. The 17-point sequential gain gives bulls a talking point, but the absolute margin level keeps pressure on the stock.
The warrant, EOSEW, trades off the same underlying story and would be expected to track EOSE's swings.
