Why Hilltop Holdings Stock Slumped Today
HTH slid nearly 3% after its Q3 2026 report missed on both revenue and earnings, with profit collapsing 46% year-over-year.
Revenue fell 6% to just under $310 million, short of the $320 million consensus. Net income dropped to $24.9 million, or $0.44 per share, well below the $0.64 EPS analysts expected. That is a 31% miss on the bottom line.
Management pointed to Federal Reserve interest rate hikes and volatile market conditions as the cause. The pressure landed on two segments: the HilltopSecurities broker-dealer and the PrimeLending mortgage business.
Capital return held steady. Hilltop kept its quarterly dividend at $0.22 per share and continued $20 million in stock repurchases. Interpretation: leaving the payout and buyback untouched signals management does not view the earnings shortfall as a threat to its capital return program, though that is our read rather than a company statement.
