Why Intel Stock Rallied Tuesday Morning

Intel stock jumped 8-9% Tuesday morning after reports surfaced that the chipmaker plans to raise CPU prices by 10%, a move designed to lift gross margins as the company works through its turnaround strategy.

Northland Securities upgraded INTC to outperform with a $120 price target, pointing to material progress in both the core business restructuring and the company's foundry expansion plans. The upgrade adds institutional support to a stock that has been under pressure for much of the past year.

The planned price increase represents a significant shift in Intel's pricing strategy as it seeks to regain profitability amid heightened competition from AMD and ARM-based processors. Higher CPU prices could flow directly to the bottom line if the company maintains current sales volumes, though demand elasticity remains a risk.

Despite the rally, valuation concerns persist. The stock currently trades at 68 times forward earnings, an elevated multiple that leaves little room for execution missteps as CEO Pat Gelsinger's turnaround plan unfolds.
