Why Resideo Technologies Stock Is Plummeting This Week

Resideo Technologies (REZI) dropped 21.5% this week after the company issued guidance that disappointed investors following its spin-off of ADI Global Distribution. Despite beating second-quarter expectations with adjusted earnings per share of $0.83—$0.15 above estimates—and revenue of $1.98 billion, the forward outlook triggered the selloff.

The company's revised full-year guidance projects sales of $2.9 billion to $2.95 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $605 million to $625 million. The weak forecast overshadowed the second-quarter beat, as traders reassessed the company's trajectory post-spin-off.

The sharp decline reflects investor concern that the ADI Global Distribution separation will materially impact Resideo's financial performance going forward, even as the core business demonstrated solid execution in the quarter just reported.
