Why Sally Beauty Stock Popped Today
Sally Beauty Holdings (SBH) reported Q3 results that showed modest top-line momentum and improved profitability, sending shares higher. Net sales climbed 0.2% to $935 million, while comparable sales rose 1.6%. E-commerce led growth with online sales up 11% for the quarter.
The beauty retailer expanded adjusted earnings per share by 8% to $0.55 and generated $62 million in free cash flow. Margin improvement came despite the muted revenue growth, signaling better cost discipline as the turnaround strategy takes hold.
Management maintained full-year guidance of $3.7 billion in sales and projected adjusted EPS in the $2.04 to $2.08 range. The company plans to expand beyond its core hair and nail products into new categories including fragrances and men's grooming.
The Q3 comp sales acceleration and strengthening digital channel point to stabilization after quarters of sluggish performance, though the company still faces headwinds in reversing traffic declines at its brick-and-mortar locations.
