Why Spotify Stock Popped Today
Spotify (SPOT) surged 11.10% after a strong Q3 2026 report that showed growth across users, revenue, and margins.
Monthly active users reached 788 million, up 11% year over year. Premium subscribers hit 306 million, up 9%. Revenue grew 16% to €5 billion, outpacing both user and subscriber growth. That gap suggests monetization is improving, though that is interpretation rather than reported detail.
Profitability moved the right way. Gross margin improved to 33%, and operating income rose 15% to €672 million. Operating income growth of 15% trailed revenue growth of 16% by a single point, so the profit gains kept pace with sales rather than accelerating past them.
Management projects continued growth in Q4 and plans to expand audiobook offerings to more than 180 markets. The audiobook expansion is the one named product catalyst in the report.
The 11.10% move reflects a market rewarding broad-based strength: every headline metric grew, and margin expansion accompanied the top-line gain.
