Why the 27% Crash in ServiceNow's Stock Looks Like a Golden Opportunity

NOW shares plunged 27% after Q3 earnings, a sell-off the source frames as an overreaction to a business still posting strong growth.

Revenue rose 20.5% to $4.11B, while subscription revenue climbed 21%. The damage came from a smaller-than-typical earnings beat and modest guidance, not from deteriorating fundamentals. Interpretation: the market punished NOW for a narrower beat against elevated expectations, rather than for any miss on the headline numbers.

The bull case rests on AI. NOW reported 65% year-over-year growth in AI annual contract value and cited strong partnerships with OpenAI. That gives the stock a growth narrative separate from the quarter's guidance disappointment.

Valuation now looks compressed. NOW trades at a forward price-to-sales multiple of 6x and a forward P/E of 22x. Those multiples, set against 20%-plus top-line growth, are the core of the argument that the 27% drop has overshot.

Still, a drop this size following a modest guide shows how little room the market allows for any softening in expectations. The stock's rerating was driven by sentiment around guidance, and that sentiment may take time to repair even if the numbers hold.
